Whether you live in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo, Akron, Dayton or a small town in between, you can shop JCM Armory’s online catalog and have your firearm shipped to a licensed dealer close to home. JCM Armory is a federally licensed firearms dealer (FFL) based in Joppa, Maryland. We ship firearms to the buyer’s local FFL in 49 states (we do not ship to California), and Ohio buyers pick up and complete their paperwork at the Ohio dealer they choose.
How buying a gun online works in Ohio
- Pick your firearm and your dealer. Add the gun to your cart and choose a licensed Ohio dealer at checkout. Many gun shops, pawn shops and sporting goods stores in Ohio hold an FFL and accept transfers; call ahead to confirm their transfer fee and hours.
- We ship to your FFL. Once your dealer’s license is on file, we ship the firearm directly to them. Firearms are never shipped to a home address.
- Pick up at the counter. Show ID and fill out ATF Form 4473. Ohio dealers contact the FBI’s NICS directly for the background check. Once you’re approved, inspect the firearm and take it home.
What to know about firearm transfers in Ohio
Ohio’s minimum purchase ages match federal dealer rules: you must be at least 21 to buy a handgun and at least 18 to buy a rifle or shotgun (Ohio Revised Code 2923.211, with narrow exceptions for qualified law enforcement and military buyers aged 18 to 20).
Ohio is not a “point of contact” state, so dealers run every firearm background check through the FBI’s NICS system. Ohio has no state permit-to-purchase. State law (ORC 9.68) makes firearm rules uniform statewide and bars cities and counties from adding their own license, permit or waiting requirements for buying a firearm.
Buyers are responsible for knowing and following federal, state and local law. Laws change, so confirm anything specific with your Ohio dealer. This page is general information, not legal advice. Last reviewed: October 2026.
