Jackson, Gulfport, Biloxi, Hattiesburg, Tupelo, Southaven or the Delta: Mississippi buyers can order from JCM Armory’s online catalog and pick up at a local dealer. We’re an FFL in Joppa, Maryland, and we can send your firearm to a licensed dealer in any state except California. Hunting is a way of life in much of Mississippi, from Delta duck blinds to Piney Woods deer camps, and turkey loads and hog rifles matter as much as deer gear.
How buying a gun online works in Mississippi
- Pick your firearm and your dealer. Add the gun to your cart and choose a licensed Mississippi dealer at checkout. Mississippi has dealers in most communities; ask about their transfer fee.
- Your FFL receives it. Once we’ve verified your dealer’s license, we ship the gun to their store. We never send firearms to a customer’s home.
- Paperwork and pickup. At the counter you’ll show ID and fill out ATF Form 4473, and your Mississippi dealer runs the background check. When it comes back approved, the gun is yours.
What to know about firearm transfers in Mississippi
Federal law sets the dealer minimum ages: 21 for handguns and 18 for rifles and shotguns. Mississippi dealers contact the FBI’s NICS directly for background checks; Mississippi isn’t a point-of-contact state.
Mississippi has no state permit-to-purchase or firearm registration.
Memphis-area buyers. If you live in DeSoto County or elsewhere in north Mississippi, use a Mississippi dealer for a handgun even if you work in Tennessee.
This is general information, not legal advice. Following federal, state and local law is the buyer’s responsibility, and the rules can change. Your Mississippi dealer is a good first stop for questions. Last reviewed: October 2026.

Hog control on private land
Feral hogs damage crops and timber across much of Mississippi, and many landowners hunt them year-round. A semi-auto rifle with a good light or thermal optic and a cartridge with enough penetration is a common choice. Always confirm current MDWFP rules on hogs and night hunting before you go.
Popular categories for Mississippi hunters
- Deer rifles and rifle ammo
- Shotguns for turkey and ducks
- AR rifles for hogs
- Handguns and holsters
- Optics
- Turkey loads
Mississippi seasons are set by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP). Check the current regulations before you hunt.
Turkey gun setup
Mississippi turkey hunters often sit tight in thick woods. A shotgun with a tight turkey choke, a red dot or low-power optic, and a camo or matte finish is a proven combination. Pattern your exact load at 20, 30 and 40 yards before the season so you know your effective range.
