JCM Armory is a licensed firearms dealer (FFL) in Joppa, Maryland. We ship to local FFLs in 49 states (not California). Colorado has some of the more detailed firearm rules in the country, so please read this page, and check with your dealer, before you order.
How buying a gun online works in Colorado
- Pick your firearm and your dealer. Add the gun to your cart and choose a licensed Colorado dealer at checkout. Check whether your firearm is a “specified semiautomatic firearm” before you order; if it is, you’ll need your eligibility card and course completion first.
- Your FFL receives it. Once we’ve verified your dealer’s license, we ship the gun to their store. We never send firearms to a customer’s home.
- State check, wait and pickup. Show ID, complete ATF Form 4473, and the dealer runs the Colorado Bureau of Investigation check. Colorado requires a 3-day wait before delivery.
What to know about firearm transfers in Colorado
Age 21 and a 3-day wait. Colorado generally requires buyers to be 21 to buy any firearm and requires a 3-day waiting period before a dealer can deliver.
State background check. Colorado is a full point-of-contact state; the Colorado Bureau of Investigation runs dealer checks.
Magazine limit. Colorado bans the sale of magazines that hold more than 15 rounds.
SB25-003, in effect since August 1, 2026. Buying a “specified semiautomatic firearm,” meaning a semi-automatic rifle or shotgun with a detachable magazine or a gas-operated semi-automatic handgun with a detachable magazine, requires a sheriff-issued eligibility card and a state-approved in-person firearms safety course. A federal lawsuit (Del Toro v. Polis) is pending, but no court has blocked the law, so plan on needing the card before pickup. This law is being challenged in court and may change; we follow the stricter rule until it’s settled. Ask us before ordering.
Age 21 and a 15-round cap. Colorado raised the minimum age to buy any firearm from a dealer to 21 in 2023, and it has banned the sale of magazines holding more than 15 rounds since 2013. Private sales also have to go through a licensed dealer for a background check.
This is general information, not legal advice. Following federal, state and local law is the buyer’s responsibility, and the rules can change. Your Colorado dealer is a good first stop for questions. Some items we sell may not be legal to buy in Colorado; your dealer will not transfer an item that state law prohibits. Last reviewed: October 21, 2026.
