Cheyenne, Casper, Laramie, Gillette, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Jackson or Cody: Wyoming buyers can order from JCM Armory’s online catalog and pick up at a local dealer. We’re an FFL in Joppa, Maryland, and we can send your firearm to a licensed dealer in any state except California. Wyoming draws hunters from across the country for antelope, mule deer and elk, and residents who live there year-round know the value of a reliable rifle, good glass and a truck gun that can take a beating.

How buying a gun online works in Wyoming

  1. Pick your firearm and your dealer. Add the gun to your cart and choose a licensed Wyoming dealer at checkout. Wyoming dealers can be far apart; confirm their hours and fee first.
  2. Your FFL receives it. Once we’ve verified your dealer’s license, we ship the gun to their store. We never send firearms to a customer’s home.
  3. Paperwork and pickup. At the counter you’ll show ID and fill out ATF Form 4473, and your Wyoming dealer runs the background check. When it comes back approved, the gun is yours.

What to know about firearm transfers in Wyoming

The federal minimums apply at the dealer: 21 and up for handguns, 18 and up for rifles and shotguns. Wyoming dealers’ background checks go straight to the FBI’s NICS system; there’s no separate state check.

Buying in Wyoming doesn’t involve a state permit or registration.

This is general information, not legal advice. Following federal, state and local law is the buyer’s responsibility, and the rules can change. Your Wyoming dealer is a good first stop for questions. Last reviewed: October 2026.

Elk and mountain hunting

Wyoming elk hunts can mean steep climbs, long days and unpredictable weather. Choose a rifle you can carry comfortably all day and a cartridge you shoot accurately. Many hunters prefer a 7mm or .30-caliber magnum or a strong 6.5. Bring layered clothing and plan for sudden storms.

What Wyoming customers shop for

Wyoming licenses and hunt areas are managed by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Check the current regulations and draw dates before you hunt.

Wind and long shots

Wyoming is famous for antelope and for wind. Learn your rifle’s wind drift at realistic distances, practice from the positions you’ll actually use, and consider a heavier, high-ballistic-coefficient bullet. A good rangefinder is as important as the scope.

Before you order in Wyoming

Wyoming’s dealers are spread out, so pick one along a route you already drive, whether that’s Casper, Cheyenne, Gillette or Sheridan. Pronghorn, mule deer and elk hunters who drew a tag often order a flat-shooting rifle plus a rangefinding scope. Ask your dealer whether they’ll hold a firearm for you if you’re out of town when it arrives. Ammunition ships separately from firearms, so plan for two deliveries.
