Little Rock, Fayetteville, Bentonville, Fort Smith, Jonesboro, Hot Springs or the Delta: Arkansas buyers can order from JCM Armory’s online catalog and pick up at a local dealer. As a federal firearms licensee in Joppa, Maryland, we ship guns to licensed dealers in 49 states; California is the one exception. From the Ozark hollows to the rice country of the Grand Prairie, Arkansas has a hunting season for nearly every month, so deer rifles, duck guns and hog gear are in demand year-round.
How buying a gun online works in Arkansas
- Pick your firearm and your dealer. Add the gun to your cart and choose a licensed Arkansas dealer at checkout. Arkansas has transfer dealers in most towns, from big sporting goods stores to small-town shops.
- Direct to the FFL. With your dealer’s license on file, the firearm ships to them. We do not deliver firearms to homes.
- Paperwork and pickup. At the counter you’ll show ID and fill out ATF Form 4473, and your Arkansas dealer runs the background check. When it comes back approved, the gun is yours.
What to know about firearm transfers in Arkansas
You must be 18 to buy a rifle or shotgun from a dealer, and 21 for a handgun, under federal law. Arkansas isn’t a point-of-contact state, so the FBI’s NICS handles every dealer background check.
There’s no state purchase permit and no gun registry in Arkansas.
Please treat this page as general information only. It is not legal advice. Each buyer must comply with federal, state and local law, and laws change over time. Check with your Arkansas FFL on anything specific. Last reviewed: October 2026.

Buying a first deer rifle
For a first Arkansas deer rifle, a bolt-action in .243, 7mm-08 or .308 with a 3-9x scope covers most woods and field-edge hunting. Mild recoil helps new and younger hunters learn good habits. Spend part of your budget on a quality sling and a few boxes of the same ammo for practice and zeroing.
Popular categories for Arkansas hunters
- Waterfowl shotguns for flooded timber and rice fields
- Non-toxic shotshells
- Deer rifles
- Handguns and holsters
- AR rifles
- Optics
Arkansas seasons and zones are set by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC). Waterfowl hunters must also follow federal non-toxic shot rules.
Flooded-timber duck guns
Arkansas green-timber hunting is hard on guns: standing water, cold mornings and mud. A semi-auto or pump with a synthetic stock and a weather-resistant finish holds up best. Use choke tubes rated for steel or other non-toxic shot, and clean and dry the action after every hunt.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy a duck gun in Arkansas and have it before the season?
Yes, if you order early. Allow time for shipping and your dealer’s schedule, especially in November when many Arkansas shops are busy with waterfowl and deer customers. Ammunition ships separately and can arrive on a different day.
Do I need a permit to buy a gun in Arkansas?
No. There’s no Arkansas purchase permit. You complete ATF Form 4473 and the FBI NICS check at your dealer.

No. Every firearm we sell goes to a licensed dealer, and you pick it up there after the background check.
What will I pay for shipping?
Nothing on firearms of $300 or more, and nothing on ammo once you reach $750 in ammunition. Otherwise shipping is $15 flat, plus $40 hazmat on powder or primers.
Do you ship to every state?
We ship firearms to local FFL dealers in 49 states. We do not ship to California.
